Järvenpää Upper Secondary School has approximately 950 students. The students have a choice of two study programmes, general programme or music programme. Additionally there is a possibility for students to apply for training groups of football or basketball.
Järvenpää Upper Secondary School is a modern universitylike building. All classrooms are equipped with information and communications technology. In science courses the emphasis is on experimental work. The school has broad variety of courses in different subjects, which allows students to plan an individual study programme based on their own tendencies, hobbies and/or future career plans. In optional studies it is possible to focus on communication or presentation skills (music, arts, articulacy), language skills, science or physical education.
The broad range of courses makes it possible to individually choose the date of matriculation examination. Students may also take courses offered by the night school study programme which is organised in the same institute. Our upper secondary school is internationally active. Our goal is thus to offer knowledge and experiences of different cultures, possibility to become acquainted with different school systems and learn from them, for both our students and teachers. At the same time students have a good opportunity to make international connections for the future. Our newest international project, the China Project, started in the autumn 2007.
